You can read all about the lastest giant colouring-in project with the youth group at Action for Children by clicking here.
I thoroughly enjoyed working on this project (as I do on every project). The best part of this one was getting a whole group of young people to come with the design ideas. Following this, their ideas were illustrated by me & then the group had to take an active part in designing the colour for the piece. The whole group took great pride and care colouring it in & boy was it worth it!

What a fantastic week- the youth film club 'Shoot Out' had a two day special fx make-up workshop- where they learnt how to make bruises, cuts and scratches, burns, zombies and scary clowns using special effects make-up with Planetmaz!
The group then had to write a script, storyboard, shoot, act, edit and direct their own short movie over the next three days. Very excited to see the final cut- such a great group to work with, their skills were amazing!

'Shoot Out' is offering young people aged between 13 and 19 the opportunity this half term to be apart of ‘Half Term Horror School’ with Planetmaz!
As well as exploring new filmmaking skills, The Rural Media Company will also be offering you the chance to work with a professional make-up artist and learn the tricks of the trade to create the special effects needed for film and TV.
From Monday 13th to Sat 18th February we will be working with a group of young people that will be trained in the art of special effects make up and plan, shoot and edit a short film. It’s going to be an intense week but with workshops and filmmaking we know it’s going to be a lot of fun!
The week is £25 per person, book now to avoid disappointment, places limited.

Community mural project with St. Andrew's First School in Evesham, funded by Worcester County Council. The brief was to design a mural with the children for the local Registration office- adding themes of celebration, love and marriage.
The project was designed so each partcipant from years 4 and 5 could contribrute, regardless of their artistic ability, by decorating a silhouette. We explored patterns from around the world and played with paint, shapes, printing techniques and symbols to make each piece. The individual silhouettes were in then collaged together centred around a central image. The piece is titled 'the one who stands out in the crowd'.
You can view the piece at Evesham Registration Office / Evesham Library, Worcestershire.

Here are photos from the Worcester 'I will' Wedding Fayre, where my new business Fancy Features is showcasing 'Giant Colouring-in'. I had an excellent day talking to many lovely brides to be and lots of interesting local businesses.
This piece was made as an example of what could be created for a wedding, and will be completed over a series of events to promote the feature! Find out more about Giant Colouring-in here http://www.fancyfeatures.com/services/giant-colouring-in/

This summer I Worked as a Team Leader for The Prince's Trust 'National Citizen Service' programme, partnered with Young Gloucestershire. As part of the six week programme the team had to deliver a community project and we were for fortunate enough to be offered an incredible 70ft of hoardings to paint a huge mural in the city centre.
With my gudiance the group researched & spoke to the community to come up with the key elements for the piece. The project was then designed in a way enabling the group to learn skills about stencils, creative design & painting.
The project was a huge success & Gloucester County Council has been inundated with mural praise emails ever since! Fingers crossed there will be more in the pipeline. You can read some of the publics comments here http://www.planetmaz.com/murals-community-art-projects/

Tailored to the happy couple, this Giant Colouring-in was commissioned especially for a wedding. Zoe & Bob wanted an interactive activity for all their family & friends that was creative, fun and resulted in a unique memento of the day. The piece was delivered in advance & they were supplied with a goody bag of art supplies so the activity ran by itself- and look at the fun they had!
Testimonial from Zoe
'We first came across Maz at Worcester Arts Workshop Relaunch party where she did a big painting and everyone was getting stuck in and joining in with filling in the colours. I was the lucky person to be photographed by her and used in her publicity. This was too good an opportunity to miss. When we decided to get married, I thought immediately of her painting and decided it would be a lovely community thing to do. We asked her to prepare a big canvas with an outline and had several requests of what to include. She then adapted our ideas and created a really beautiful template. All the guests took part in painting the picture on the day after the wedding outside and again it really drew the party together. It was a great way to involve everyone, young and old and nearly every guest contributed. It was not only a beautiful painting which we will cherish, but we also have great memories and photos of everyone painting their little section so it means so much to us! Thanks Maz, we are thrilled!'

Comissioned for the St.george's Day Parade in Telford, this giant colouring-in was very designed for with a stained glass window theme combined with George & the dragon. All the public were invited to contribrute to the piece using paint pens, which made colouring-in very easy for everyone. Children under 10 were provided with a mini colouring-in, so even the youngest & most expressive of artists could participate!
The piece was finished over 5 hours and is now displayed in the town's library.

Make-up design & make-up workshops for the lovely youth theatre production at The Courtyard Theatre, Hereford.
With funding from the National Lottery this youth theatre went all out on their production about local Hereford legend- David Garrick, in 'The Theatre of Doom'. After designing the make-up for the show, each young actor was taught how to create their make-up look for their character, giving them the skills to apply their look during the show. More complex looks were assisted by me and all round we had a brilliant time, what a fantatsic cast and crew at The Courtyard Theatre.

From September 2008 until May 2010, I taught at New Zealand's top Make-up school, owned and ran by leading NZ make-up artists Gabrielle Jones & Diane Ensor.
During my two year working visa in New Zealand, this was one of the most delightful and amazing places I worked. Teaching students from age 16-65 about all aspects of make-up artistry from beauty and fashion make-up to special effects and prosthetics. I absolutely love teaching, it is great to watch people learn and watch their skills go from strength to strength. Many of the students have gone on to work in film and TV productions in NZ.

Working in Auckland, New Zealand, I was fortunate enough to work on the TV Series Spartacus: Blood & Sand, Series 1. This was a huge production, demanding lots of special fx make-up & prosthetics for battlle scenes, along with period wig dressing and of course getting those gladiators ready - they don't tan themselves! I worked on both the extras and stunt men, working with an incredible film crew in NZ, such a brilliant experience.

After working on WOW in 2008, I was offered the opportunity to Head the department for 2009. The Wearable Arts Show in Wellington is New Zealand's largest annual arts event, showcasing the most talented and innnovative costume designers from around the world in part of a large two hour theatrical show and competition.
When I first travelled to New Zealand and heard about WOW I dreamt of working on the show, so heading the department and designing make-up for all the walkabout characters and dancers was a dream come true!
If you have not heard of this show yet, I highly reccommend it- it is one of the best live shows I have ever seen packed full of inspiration and unbelievable design. Visit the World of Wearable Art Show by clicking here.
